Discover Filmmaking Camp
Do you have a young creative at home who loves acting and filmmaking? Our Discover Filmmaking Course is the perfect blend of both worlds—designed for students who want to explore their passion for being in front of and behind the camera. Whether they love performing on screen, telling stories, or working with video, this course will give them hands-on experience in a fun, supportive environment.
Our classes have a 5:1 student-instructor ratio so that every student gets the attention they need to flourish.
Taking place at Rickmansworth School — easily accessible from Croxley Green Underground station — the location is ideal for students living in Amersham, Little Chalfont, Chorleywood, Watford, North-West London or along the Chiltern Railways line to Aylesbury or Metropolitain Underground line.

Description
During this immersive week-long program, students will dive into the essentials of screen acting and filmmaking, by combining modules from our Young Filmmakers and Young Screen Actors camps. From learning acting techniques and performing scenes to exploring the art of storytelling and mastering film equipment, this course is packed with exciting challenges and opportunities for creative growth.
What You'll Do:
- Perform on Camera: Practice scenes and build your confidence in front of the camera. Receive personalized feedback from an experienced tutor.
- Learn Filmmaking: Get hands-on with professional filmmaking equipment, learning how to set up cameras, lights, and audio to create the perfect shot.
- Develop Acting Techniques: Use your voice, body, and emotions to bring characters to life on screen.
- Video Editing: Learn how to edit your scenes using industry-standard video and audio software.
- Collaborative Filmmaking: Work together with other students to write scripts, design sets, and create your own scenes and video projects.
- Explore Camera Shots: Understand different camera angles and shots that filmmakers use to tell compelling stories.
- Online Safety: Learn essential tips for staying safe in the digital world as you work on your filmmaking projects.

This course is suitable for students between the ages of 11-16 and is open to all skill levels.
Dr Roland Kay
Roland is a Director of Photography and Steadicam operator who has worked in both theatre and film. His recent projects include a horror short film and a story that addresses the mental health challenges associated with Covid lockdowns. Currently, he is working as a Steadicam operator on an experimental dance film that explores significant moments in a woman's life.
Sintija Linuza
Sintija, an accomplished short-form content producer, has had her films recognized at several festivals, including Cannes Shorts, with one of her works featured on the Creative Pool website. Her film also received the Shiny Award for Best Short Film, a testament to her storytelling abilities. In addition to her filmmaking, Sintija has managed digital campaigns and promotional websites for high-profile clients such as Netflix Queue Magazine and Warner Bros.

Getting there
The school is a 20 minute walk from Rickmansworth Underground station and a 12 minute walk from Croxley Underground station, both of which are on the Metropolitain line. Chiltern Railways also stops at Rickmansworth Station, or you can take the Chiltern Railways train to Harrow-on-the-Hill and change to a Metropolitain line service to Watford, if you prefer to walk from Croxley Underground Station.
